It’s that of year again – Fall is upon us! The heat and humidity are leaving us and making way for nice, crisp days to get out and enjoy all that is going on in beautiful Placer County. Festivals, Fairs, and Concerts
If you’re looking for some fun gatherings, there is a lot happening in the next couple months. One thing you won’t want to miss is the Gold Country Fair taking place September 7th – 10th at the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn. Enjoy all the specialty foods, multiple stages of concerts, a carnival, livestock exhibits, a demolition derby and a fun atmosphere.
For the music lovers, there’s Music in the Park in Roseville on September 10th. Hosted at Royer Park, enjoy a tribute to The Beatles by the Sun Kings in a concert in honor of our 1st Responders who humbly serve our area. Admission is free!
There are multiple art walks taking place for those looking to see exhibits from local artists. Roseville has an art walk the third Saturday of every month at Blue Line Arts from 6 pm – 9 pm. There is also the Auburn Art Walk on October 6th at the streets of Old Town and Downtown Auburn, also taking place 6 pm – 9 pm. On the third Friday of September, enjoy the Colfax Art Walk from 4 pm – 8 pm at Main Street in Historic Downtown Colfax.
Fitness and Recreation
If you’ve been itching to hit the course and support a great cause, there’s the John L. Sullivan Golf Tournament on September 9th. The event benefits the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Placer County which helps individuals and families in the local community. The tournament will be held at Lincoln Hills Golf Course. There is also the FORE The Kids Golf Tournament at Winchester Country Club in Meadow Vista on October 3rd, benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of Placer County.
For the aquatically gifted, there is the Truckee Swim Classic taking place at Donner Lake on September 10th. Registration is available all ages as well as prizes for the top finishers in all categories. There are 2.4 mile, 1.2 mile, 0.5 mile and Team Relay options available.
For the runners out there, don’t miss the Emerald Bay Trail Run at the beautiful Eagle Point Camp Ground. With incredible views of Lake Tahoe and the peaks of the High Sierra, the scenery of this 7-mile run is unmatched. For the longer distance runners, there is also the Truckee Marathon and half marathon on September 24th.
Food and Beverage
Bring your appetite to these events! Olympic Valley is hosting the 29th Annual Alpen Wine Fest on September 3rd. There’s also the Lake Tahoe Autumn Food and Wine Festival from September 8th to September 10th.
Get yourself ready for Guitar Strings vs. Chicken Wings for a battle of the bands and local restaurants in Olympic Valley on September 15th! Lastly, you won’t want to miss taking the family to Food Truck Cinema hosted in Roseville, complete with food trucks, a craft beer garden, wine bar, concert and a showing of the Halloween classic Hocus Pocus on the big screen.
